Individual or Couples Counseling
Dr. Caterina Spinaris, DWCO’s Executive Director, accepts appointments for counseling sessions with corrections and detention staff and/or their significant others.
Fees are paid by the client. We do not bill your health insurance.
The advantage to you is that no psychiatric diagnosis is
entered in your insurance records, which could affect future coverage and
rates. Also, not billing your insurance minimizes concerns about
confidentiality.
Intensive
Treatment Program
As of August 2007, DWCO will be offering corrections staff and spouses/significant others a confidential 20-hour, week-long (four hours/day) individualized intensive psychotherapy treatment package for work-related psychological trauma, and other personal and couples’ issues.
Identified work-related mental health issues would be covered by workers’ compensation.
The approaches used to treat trauma are CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), and IRRT (Imagery Rescripting & Reprocessing Therapy).
The fee for the 20-hour treatment package for individuals is $1,000 and for couples $1,200.
Clients will be responsible for their transportation, and room and board. Agreements are available with area motels for reduced rates.

Phone Counseling
Desert Waters has expanded
the Corrections Ventline™ services to include
one phone
consultation with a mental health provider at no cost to the caller.
Corrections staff and spouses desiring to use this service should call our
office at 719-784-4727 between 9:30am and 5pm MST to set up their free phone
appointment. [If you wish to remain anonymous, dial *67 (star 67) before
dialing our number, as the office phone has Caller ID.]
If you and the counselor agree to pursue further sessions, an office visit for one face-to-face session will be required, or we can help to provide you with referrals in your area. After that office visit, counseling can be resumed on the phone.
